I am pleased to update everybody that our building contractors have been on site at All Saints Church since November 2023, and they are making steady progress in the rebuilding of the walls and roof.
Locally sourced stone has been delivered to the site and is being cut to size by skilled workmen.
The path from Lower Road down to the church has been resurfaced making it easier for ramblers and parishioners wishing to access the graveyard.
Meanwhile, we are working to a timeline of 4 June 2024 to feedback our plans for the design and reordering of the interior of the church to the Derby Diocese for their consideration. This includes the design and choice of stained-glass windows and furniture and a stained glass artist and carpenter have been commissioned to help us with this work.
Good progress is being made and the Parochial Church Council is working at a pace with our architects to meet the 4 June timeline.
We will be consulting further on these designs with the statutory bodies (including Historic England) as well as our congregation and local residents in the next few weeks. So everybody who has an interest will all have the opportunity to have a further say on the final drawings before they are submitted to the Diocese.
A storyboard is also being set up on the site for all passers by and visitors to read at their leisure. This will be complete in the next few weeks.
